About Priest Idol
The Church of England is in crisis, with
congregations falling and churches being forced to close. But is there a way
back? Can failing churches be revived and become a source of hope for the
community that they are supposed to support? Channel 4 follows attempts to save
a church facing closure in Lundwood, Yorkshire, where attendances have reached
crisis point with less than ten people in church every Sunday. Something’s got
to change. When the local diocese advertise for someone to turn the church
around, just one person applies – a newly-qualified priest from the US. Father
